Outstanding Paper Award of the Audio Engineering Society

Aalborg, Oldenburg. At this year´s »AES International Conference on Headphone Technology« in Aalborg, Denmark, Dr. Jan Rennies-Hochmuth, Hannah Baumgartner, Dirk Oetting and Jens-E. Appell have been awarded with the Technical Paper Award for his work on user-interface concepts for sound personalization in headphones.

The team of Rennies-Hochmuth develops signal processing methods to adapt the audio output of telephones and consumer electronics devices to individual hearing needs. Besides an adaption of sound to personal preferences the researchers aim at improving speech intelligibility for both persons with normal hearing and people suffering from hearing loss. The scientists have developed and evaluated intuitive user interfaces for easy adaptation of the audio output.
