CeBIT 2012

Hannover  Mar 06, 2012 - Mar 10, 2012
Hall 26, Booth E08 and Hall 26, Booth G50

At CeBIT 2012 visitors and technology enthusiasts will be guided to the exhibitors via four platforms: CeBIT pro, CeBIT gov, CeBIT life und CeBIT lab. Each of these platforms is tailored to the interests of specific user groups and provides an optimum basis for bringing together top-level decision-makers - from both suppliers and users.

Fraunhofer IDMT shows at the Fraunhofer booth in Hall 26, Booth E08:

HearingSupport4Telecommunikation

The HearingSupport4Telecommunication system allows for clear and stressless speech communication on the phone even for hearing impaired people. Users can interactively adapt the speech signal to their individual hearing impairment which is realized by innovative signal processing strategies.. This technology can be integrated into existing telephone networks to significantly improve speech intelligibility using existing phone devices. This way, most users can communicate on the phone even without using a hearing aid.

HOPSCOTCH – A concept for exer-learning games

Cramming your head with vocabulary from a book can become boring very quickly. Fraunhofer IDMT has developed HOPSCOTCH, a learning concept utilizing the natural urge for exercise as learning motivation. Based on software, HOPSCOTCH animates children and adults to solve tasks by hopping onto appropriate fields of a sensory mat. This concept can be applied to different digital media and is useful for many subjects, e. g. for Maths, English, German and History. This is for more than head fitness!

SAISBECO

All great apes are classified as endangered or critically endangered on the Red List of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources). Monitoring of remaining populations using video traps is a promising venue to collect information about abundance or about rates of population change. Using new identification software, videos are scanned for sequences showing apes. The images are clearly assigned to certain individuals. This procedure is developed in close cooperation of Fraunhofer IDMT and Fraunhofer IIS with the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology as part of the SAISBECO project.

Ground-Truth-Generation – Annotation Tool

Creating suitable test files is a crucial step in analyzing and evaluation of new technologies. The research field "evaluation" in the research program "THESEUS", initiated by the German Ministry of Economy and Technology (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie, BMWi), has developed a tool for annotating faces and people, logo and document structures as well as visual concepts. This tool can flexibly be adapted to the requirements of a particular evaluation.
