Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMTThe IST project (Information Society Technologies) of the European Union, DIVAS, combined the expertise of eight companies and institutions for development of a multimedia search engine that works directly on the encoded data of audio and video contents. The focus was on content based search technologies, such as the automated extraction of content features from compressed contents as "Fingerprints" or "Thumbnails".
