Networks and Cooperations

Using the expertise of numerous international partners from business, education, and science, as well as the capacities and capabilities of Fraunhofer’s broad research landscape, Fraunhofer IDMT is able to leverage the potential of a strong network of competencies and partners.

Fraunhofer ICT Group

The Fraunhofer ICT Group as part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is the largest IT research organization in Europe and a competent contact point for industrial companies looking for IT solutions in various sectors of the economy. The Group bundles the competences of the 21 participating institutes and gives prospects and potential partners an overview of current technologies and research topics. Extensive knowledge of the market and the placement of relevant institute experts help companies meet their challenges.

Fraunhofer Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Alliance

The Fraunhofer Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Alliance consists of 30 institutes bundling their cross-sector competencies. Their expertise ranges from market-oriented big data solutions for individual problems to the professional education of data scientists and big data specialists.

Fraunhofer Business Area Digital Media

In the Fraunhofer Business Area Digital Media, five institutes are working together to develop key components for a complete digital media workflow and for multi-format and multi-platform content creation and distribution. The institutes offer research and development in the areas of production, audio systems, data compression, post processing, transmission, projection, distribution and digital archiving. As an one-stop competence center for digital media the business area provides for their customers scientific know-how and the development of solutions that can be integrated in workflows and optimize process steps.

Fraunhofer Transport Alliance

The Fraunhofer Transport Alliance represents the combined traffic-engineering expertise of different Fraunhofer Institutes. The Fraunhofer Transport Alliance develops adequate technical and conceptual solutions for the public and industry partners and puts these solutions into practice by means of transport-related research. It creates a new choice in R&D in transport through the bundling of the existing potential and a broad system competency. Due to their participation in international research programs member institutes have worldwide contacts with companies and research organizations involved in the fields of transportation engineering and management.

Fraunhofer Vision

Fraunhofer Vision pools the expertise of the Fraunhofer Institutes in the fields of machine vision, image processing, optical testing and measurement techniques. The cooperation within this network enables the early detection of requirements of the market and allows the Fraunhofer Vision Institutes to tackle technological challenges. Having a clear focus on applied research, the network pursues the objective of making new developments accessible under industrial conditions. Standard and specially designed cameras, as well as infrared or X-ray sensors are used for imaging. On request, we will provide complete solutions including automated handling systems. The Vision Partners, a network of related companies and universities with which Fraunhofer Vision works, further compliments these abilities.

Fraunhofer IDMT acts in close cooperation with various universities and colleges and is committed to the qualification of young scientists as well as to excellence and networking in innovation-oriented research.
