Smart Speaker – Smart MEMS Loudspeaker for Mobile Applications

Goal of this research project is the development of MEMS-based, smart audio reproduction systems for mobile devices. These systems, although small in size, provide high acoustical performance with low energy consumption and low-cost production. This innovative concept comprises high-efficiency MEMS-actuators to drive a loudspeaker membrane, which achieve an optimal performance by means of smart signal processing.

 

Responsibilities of Fraunhofer IDMT

The expertise in loudspeaker technology and digital signal processing makes Fraunhofer IDMT best suited for the task of investigating various approaches for performance optimization in terms of loudspeaker construction and control as well as the application of array technologies.
