Laura Tuschen, head of Assistive Speech and Language Analysis group, gives an insight into the work of the research group. The focus is on technologies that support people with verbal communication. Within the group, the researchers are working on technical processes that combine the specialist knowledge of logopaedics and speech therapy with digital speech recognition and analysis. Through digital speech processing technologies for health and education, the Fraunhofer IDMT in Oldenburg aims to enable people of all ages to communicate verbally on an individual basis and promote their quality of life and participation.
