IBC 2026: Fraunhofer IDMT showcases expanded Content Verification Toolbox

News /

The Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT will present its expanded Content Verification Toolbox at IBC 2026, September 11–14 in Amsterdam. With a particular focus on audio and speech, the toolbox combines technologies for verification, forensics, provenance, tracking and content intelligence.

Automated provenance tracking extends trust beyond the original C2PA-signed publication by identifying reused content, linking related versions, and reconstructing the genealogy of media assets across distribution channels

From verification to provenance and content intelligence

The toolbox helps media companies, newsrooms, platform operators and technology providers verify media content, reconstruct provenance, track dissemination and derive insights from forensic traces, content and context. IBC 2026 highlights include:

  • Content verification: As generative AI and manipulation techniques evolve rapidly, synthesis detection must be able to deal with new methods and real-world content while ensuring explainability. Fraunhofer IDMT helps organizations evaluate and select technologies suited to their needs. We also develop novel detection methods, including person-centric, multimodal  approaches to manipulation and synthesis detection.
  • Provenance and authentication: Fraunhofer IDMT develops content-based provenance methods that identify reused content and relationships between versions, providing evidence even across “analog gaps”. They complement C2PA-based provenance and authentication, including the marking of synthetic content in complex media workflows – increasingly relevant under the EU AI Act.
  • Content and coordination analysis: Forensic and provenance analysis tools help identify hidden traces, relationships and patterns across media collections. For instance, IDMT’s tools were recently used in a DW investigation into the Epstein files, helping reveal relationships between audio files. Beyond that, such technologies can also support the analysis of coordinated activity and inauthentic behavior on social media.
  • Program analysis: Content-based technologies analyze audio-visual material, without the need for additional data, enabling broadcasters to compare programs and derive insights from existing media collections to optimize planning, understand the competitive landscape and demonstrate value through automated reporting.

Privacy Enhancing Technologies support the entire portfolio, protecting sensitive data and confidentiality where required.

From use cases to solutions

Fraunhofer IDMT offers technology evaluation, integration and licensing as well as proof-of-concept projects and joint R&D. Visit us at booth B80 in Hall 8 to explore the Content Verification Toolbox and discuss your use case with our experts.
