Acoustic signals contain valuable information about technical systems, processes, and environments, and open up new possibilities for condition, process, and event detection. In application-oriented feasibility studies, Fraunhofer IDMT investigates the potential of acoustic methods for specific problems, develops suitable measurement and analysis concepts, and thereby creates a sound basis for decision-making regarding new acoustics-based solutions.
Systematic Characterization of acoustic envorinments
Characterization and analysis of acoustic environments in various application areas – such as industrial manufacturing, medical diagnostics, infrastructure monitoring, or environmental monitoring – for the purpose of
- identifying relevant acoustic features
- assessing the suitability of acoustic signals for condition, process, and event detection
- Conducting manual and automated signal analyses as part of feasibility studies
Acoustic sensing for data aquisition
Design and deployment of acoustic sensor systems for data acquisition in real-world application environments to
- generate application-specific data sets
- Recording acoustic processes under real operating conditions
- Supporting the development of data-driven analysis methods
