leat con

From October 6 to 8, 2026, LEAT Con in Hamburg invites you to three days filled with innovation, hands-on experience, and knowledge exchange centered on experience technology. As a convention for experience technologies, it combines an exhibition, presentations, workshops, and networking, and is aimed at professionals from fields such as live events, ProAV, stage technology, broadcast, and telecommunications. On the Tech Stage, Christoph Sladeczek will provide insights into the possibilities of object-based audio and modern sound field control for immersive listening experiences.

When Sound Becomes Space

Designing Immersive Listening Experiences with Object-Based Audio

Immersive audio is changing the way audiences experience sound – from live performances and entertainment venues to new forms of spatial storytelling. But creating convincing immersive experiences requires more than simply adding more loudspeakers. It requires flexible concepts that allow sound to be positioned, controlled and experienced as a natural part of the space.

This presentation explores how object-based audio and advanced sound field control can transform professional audio systems and enable new approaches to immersive sound experiences. It will highlight how spatial audio rendering allows sound objects to be placed and moved freely within a listening environment, creating flexible and scalable solutions for live and installed audio applications.

Using practical examples, the talk will demonstrate how immersive audio technologies can be integrated into real-world production environments and how they open up new possibilities for creative sound design. A brief outlook will show how these approaches are also being transferred into other application areas, including automotive audio.
