Use Case: The Hearing Car – For greater road safety

Your challenge

Many traffic events are announced acoustically, such as an approaching ambulance with its siren. Currently, vehicle assistance systems rely primarily on visual sensors. Important acoustic information—such as sirens, bells, or voices—remains untapped. With the development of (partially) autonomous driving, the demands and needs for comprehensive assistance systems and sensors are increasing.

Your benefit

We develop AI-based acoustic sensor systems that detect and interpret relevant sounds. This enables vehicles to react more quickly and safely—even without direct line of sight. The additional sense of hearing can make a significant contribution, particularly with regard to the safety of (partially) autonomous driving. Audio analysis in vehicles offers numerous other applications: acoustic scene detection, amplification of relevant exterior sounds inside the cabin, predictive maintenance of wear-prone parts, and voice interaction with the vehicle.

Extras

It can be combined with camera, radar, and lidar systems and integrated into driver-assistance systems.
