SpeechUp

Your speech, your way

Your palms are sweaty, your voice is shaking: giving presentations in front of other people can be stressful. The way you speak and your voice can sometimes reveal a lot about your competence and trustworthiness. That's why it's important to practice your communication skills regularly. However, ad hoc training with a speech coach is often limited in time, while online videos are only partially effective.

In the “SpeechUp” project, researchers are therefore developing a software tool that allows users to train their speaking and presentation skills independently. Through the data protection-compliant analysis of voice recordings, valuable feedback on speech intelligibility and prosody can be provided, enabling communication skills to be improved. Experts from the fields of speech therapy and language and speech analysis are working together on a flexible solution for training soft skills in the area of communication. The goal is to put the tool into practice to support e-learning platforms or communication coaches.
